What is a Workers’ Compensation Occupational Claim?

Rispoli & Borneo P.C.

Most New Jersey workers’ compensation claims arise out of a specific accident or specific event. However, injuries that occur over time, or what we refer to as occupational injuries, are also covered under the New Jersey workers’ compensation statute. Those claims are treated just the same as a specific event type of claim. If you suffer an injury over time, you’re entitled to temporary disability benefits, medical benefits, and a permanency award, which is based on the percentage of disability that you’ve suffered as a result of your injury.

The occupational claims are a little tricky and sometimes harder to prove. So, it’s important that an injured worker report them quickly and hire an attorney who’s experienced in handling these claims.
