So, pre-trial intervention, or as it’s referred to, PTI, is a diversionary program that’s designed to resolve criminal matters. Basically, what it is is probation, oftent times with conditions such as drug counseling or anger management. A defendant applies to PTI and if they’re accepted, they go into probation for a period of 1 to 3 years. At the end of that probationary period, if they successfully complete probation and meet all of the conditions, the charges against them will be dismissed. And

that’s the primary benefit. PTI is a great way to resolve a criminal matter because it one involves no jail time and two results in a dismissal of the criminal charges at the end of the case.
